Pimentel backs suspension of excise tax on fuel
MANILA, Philippines – Senate Minority Leader Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III said he supports proposals on the suspension of excise tax on fuel.
“Nakakalunod na ang presyo ng krudo. Kailangan ng ‘lifeboat’ ng ating mga kababayan,” Pimentel said in a statement.
(The price of fuel has a drownnoing effect on the people. Our countrymen need a lifeboat.)
Pimentel called on the Marcos administration to promptly address the issue.
He also warned that failure to do so could cause inflation rates to skyrocket, further impacting the economic well-being of every Filipino.
Article continues after this advertisement“The rising cost of crude oil will ultimately [burden] every Filipino because it leads to increased prices of goods, electricity, and more,” Pimentel stressed.
