P1 million shabu seized from Maguindanao Norte village councilor

COTABATO CITY – Police authorities arrested on Friday afternoon a village councilman and his companion, both from Maguindanao del Norte, and seized from them more than P1 million worth of prohibited drugs during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Kalawag.

Brig. Gen. Jimili Macaraeg, police director for the Soccsksargen region, said the operating troops seized P1,020,000 worth of suspected meth from Zacaria Buisan, 38, village councilor of Barangay Poblacion, Talitay town; and Guiamaludin Sailudin, 45, of Barangay Poblacion, Datu Odin Sinsuat, also in Maguindanao del Norte.

Buisan is seeking reelection in the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.

Macaraeg said the duo agreed to sell meth to an undercover police agent along the diversion road of Barangay Kalawag at 4 p.m. They were immediately arrested after the transaction.

“Both are high-value targets,” Macaraeg said in a statement.

Seized from the suspects were mobile phones, 150 grams of suspected meth, and a Toyota Hi-Ace van vehicle.

Macaraeg lauded the operating units for their successful operation.

“The PRO 12 police force will exhaust all means to ensure that SOCCSKSARGEN region will never be a safe haven of drug peddlers,” Macaraeg said.
