Pateros police nabs minor for statutory rape

MANILA, Philippines — The Pateros Municipal Police Station has taken into custody on Thursday a minor facing a case for statutory rape.

According to the Southern Police District (SPD), the 17-year-old suspect was arrested in Brgy. San Joaquin, Pasig City.

The arrest was based on a warrant issued by the Pasig City Regional Trial Court – Branch 262 on Wednesday.

Article 266-A Part 1 (D) of the Revised Penal Code, as Amended by R.A. 8353 and R.A. 11648 defined statutory rape as a rape committed when the offended party is below 16 years old.

When asked about the exact age of the victim, SPD told INQUIRER.net that they could not share details about it.

“Alias John [as what the police described the suspect] will be transferred to the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development for proper disposition,” the SPD said.
