Cop shot dead by dad’s brod

DAVAO DEL NORTE—A policeman was killed after he was shot by the brother of a local politician inside an entertainment center in Panabo City, Davao del Norte, early yesterday, police said.

SPO3 Roberto Martinez died of multiple gunshot wounds following the 1 a.m. shooting inside the Ultra Bowl Entertainment Center in San Francisco village, according to Senior Insp. Gretchin Cinco, Southern Mindanao police regional spokesperson.

Cinco said the suspect, Roque Dujali, was arrested by the Panabo City police in a Davao City hospital where he sought treatment for a gunshot wound that he suffered at the height of a fracas in the entertainment center that led to Dujali shooting Martinez.

In a text message, Cinco said the bloodshed happened as Roque Dujali, brother of Panabo Councilor Allan Dujali, had an altercation with another customer at the establishment.

Roque Dujali drew a handgun at the height of the altercation and fired, prompting Martinez, who was in the establishment, to draw his weapon.

Martinez was taken to a hospital in Panabo where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Cinco said police seized a .45 cal. pistol and bullets from Roque Dujali.

Dujali is now detained at the Panabo police detention cell while awaiting charges. Frinston L. Lim,  Inquirer Mindanao
