Rice price cap ‘going as well as we can expect,’ says Bongbong Marcos
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday assured that the implementation of the rice price cap is going well.
Marcos, who is also the concurrent Department of Agriculture secretary, implemented the rice price cap at P41 to P45 per kilo to control the erratic prices of the agriculture product.
“We just had a meeting about that this morning and so far, the implementation and enforcement is going as well as we can expect. Siyempre, nag-aalangan din ‘yung mga ibang retailer at hindi natin pwedeng sisihin dahil nga hindi sila nakakatiyak nga doon sa ating ibibigay na kapalit,” Marcos said in an ambush interview in Quezon City.

Marcos said that government livelihood aid has already started for small-time rice retailers affected by the price cap.

(Help has been given since last Saturday for small-time rice sellers and it seems like there was an effect. Those who did not want to sell their rice are slowly putting out the product because they can be assured that there is something in return.)
