LUCENA CITY — A passenger bus terminal in Laurel town in Batangas province was rocked with an explosion early Sunday (Sept. 10), police said.

Batangas police, in a report, said a security guard at the Magnificat Transport Terminal station in Barangay (village) Bugaan East was jolted by a loud blast at around 3:50 a.m.

Investigators found out that a still unidentified man allegedly threw a grenade into one of the parked passenger buses.

The explosion shattered the glass window of the bus, while nine other buses incurred minor damage, the police said.

No one was hurt by the explosion.

The police are conducting investigations to identify the culprit and establish the motive behind the incident.

Police Colonel Samson Belmonte, Batangas police chief, appealed to the public to help in the probe.

“I appeal to you that if you have any information or know anyone involved in this incident, please promptly inform our authorities so that those responsible can be held accountable,” Belmonte said in a statement.
