Sudden rains surprise Manila residents

MANILA, Philippines- Residents and commuters in Manila City were taken by surprise when strong rains suddenly poured Thursday morning, a Radyo Inquirer 990 AM report said.

The rain began to pour around six in the morning and surprised many people who were on their way to work, the report said.

Many of the people were not carrying umbrellas while others were not able to immediately open their umbrellas due to the sudden downpour, it said.

The water had reached gutter level at the corner of United Nations Avenue and San Marcelino Streets in Ermita, Manila, it said.

Traffic did not build up in the area despite the rains, the report said.

Metro Manila has experienced high temperatures the past several days according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
