MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is looking into the digitalization of the driver’s license renewal process and the issuance of student licenses, its chief Vigor Mendoza II said on Friday.
“We are moving online with this, we are moving online,” Mendoza said in a press conference when asked if there are plans to digitize the process of driver’s license renewal.
“Very soon, even the acquisition of student driver’s license, we will use [the] online platform,” the official also said.
According to Mendoza, this plan is in line with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s push for digitalization, prompting the LTO to launch its electronic driver’s license last June to address the shortage of license cards.
The digital version of driver’s licenses may be accessed in LTO’s Land Transportation Management System portal.
