MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the President (OP) on Wednesday provided P200 million in financial assistance to the Philippine Orthopedic Center (POC).

POC Medical Center chief Dr. Jose Pujalte Jr., who received the check from Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin in Malacañang, said that the assistance will go a long way in sustaining the operations of the country’s prime orthopedic center.

In a statement, the Presidential Communications Office quoted Pujalte saying that aside from helping in-need Filipino orthopedic patients, the cash assistance would also help in their efforts to modernize the POC by procuring state-of-the-art hospital facilities and equipment.

Pujalte said that the center can now accommodate more than 600 patients daily, with the donation received from OP, in compliance with the Universal Health Care Act.
