MANILA, Philippines — A residential area in Barangay Ususan, Taguig City, was hit by two separate fires on Wednesday.
According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Taguig City, the first fire was reported to them at 9:13 a.m. It reached the first alarm and was declared “fire out” by 10:00 in the morning.
“[At] 9:13 [a.m.] po namin na-receive yung call. [By] 9:14 [a.m.] po kami nagpalabas ng bumbero. [At] 10:00 [a.m.] po, fire out na,” a fire officer told INQUIRER.net over the phone.
The BFP-Taguig confirmed that no casualties were recorded, while an investigation into the fire’s damages and cause is still ongoing.
Meanwhile, a resident claimed that the fire started at around 7 a.m. and allegedly started from a burning speaker, resulting in a gas tank explosion.
“May nasunog po daw kasi na speaker,” resident Yang Mendoza said in an interview with INQUIRER.net.
“Tapos po nasundan ng pagsabog ng tangke,” she added.
In a post on her Facebook profile, she mentioned that more than 20 families were affected by the said fire — mostly her relatives — whose homes were burned down.
A few hours later, around noon, another fire was reported in the same area.
“Buti hindi kinabahan ang father ko. Pinasok niya yung bahay ng kapitbahay namin dahil nag-panic na po yung may bahay na yung hose ng tangke nila ay umaapoy na,” Marlyn Tumalon, another resident said in a separate interview with INQUIRER.net.
(Fortunately, my father didn’t panic. He went to our neighbor’s house, whose gas tank was already burning.)
The second fire was reported to the barangay officials of Ususan. The firemen in the area immediately responded to the site and put off the blaze. It has also been declared a fireout as of this posting.
