A total of 25 police officers across the country have tested positive for illegal drug use, according to the Philippine National Police.

In a press briefing in Camp Crame on Tuesday, PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said of the 25 who yielded positive results both in the initial screening and confirmatory tests conducted from Jan. 1 to Aug. 31, eight have already been dismissed from the service, while one opted to resign.

Brig. Gen. Constancio Chinayog Jr., director of the PNP Forensic Group, said this translated to 0.02-percent positivity rate, or 2 out of 10,000 police officers screened turned out to be positive for illegal drugs, usually “shabu” or crystal meth. INQ
