MANILA, Philippines—A 4.9 magnitude earthquake shook Eastern Samar at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday, state volcanologists said.
The tectonic quake struck 40 kilometers northeast of San Policarpio at a shallow depth of five kilometers, the Philippine Volcanology and Seismology said.
The earthquake was felt at Intensity IV in Oras town; Intensity III in Can-avid, San Policarpio, Borongan, Sulat, Dolores in Eastern Samar; and Intensity II in Tacloban City and Catbalogan in Samar.
No damages were reported and no aftershocks were expected, Phivolcs said.
