MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) confirmed Friday that its public information office chief Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan has been appointed acting director of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

Maranan will be replacing former QCPD chief Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, resigned last August 30 amid the backlash he faced for holding a press conference with Wilfredo Gonzales, a dismissed cop caught on video threatening and pointing a gun at a cyclist.
