The grisly incident was discovered by the victim’s husband, Edito Candiz, who just returned home after he was done with his job as a motorcycle driver at the city proper, 3.5 kms away from their village.

Rea, when found by her husband, was lying dead embracing her 5-month baby boy. The other child was a 3-year-old baby girl.

The city police have yet to determine the identity of the suspect and his motive in killing the victims as their investigation was still ongoing, Sergeant Ronaldo Salentes said.

The incident was reported about 6 p.m. by Candiz to the city police with the help of village officials

Papua village chairman Sosimo Basal Jr., in an interview, said they were shocked by this grisly incident.

“This is very shocking and could not have been done by a sane man. He could have at least spared the young children who could not defend themselves,” he said.ED
