MANILA, Philippines — Seven national road sections were closed on Wednesday due to Super Typhoon Goring, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said.
In a Facebook post, the DPWH said that the following roads were closed due to damages:
Cordillera Administrative Region
- Claveria-Calanasan-Kabugao Road, Apayao (closed due to landslide)
- Kennon Road, Tuba, Benguet (closed as precautionary measure)
- Dantay-Sagada Road, Sagada, Mt.Province (closed due to roadcut/collapsed pavement)
- Baguio-Bontoc Road, Bauko, Mt.Province (closed due to roadcut/collapsed pavement, rock/slope collapse)
Region 1- Ilocos Region
- Roxas Bridge, Vigan-San Vicente Road, Ilocos Sur (closed due to scoured bridge abutment)
- Region 2- Cagayan Valley
- Gadu-Carilucud Nabbotuan-Palao-Macutay Road, Carilucud Detour Bridge, Solana, Cagayan (closed due to washed-out detour road)
Region 6-Western Visayas
- Iloilo-Antique Road, Hamtic, Antique (closed due to road depression/sinking)
The DPWH also identified seven other roads with limited access due to flooding and damages:
Cordillera Administrative Region
- Jct Talubin-Barlig-Natonin-Paracelis-Calaccad Road, Natonin, Mt. Province (one lane passable to light vehicles due to soil collapse)
Region 1- Ilocos Region
- Vigan Bridge 1 and 2 along Bantay-Vigan Road, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur (one lane passable to light vehicles only due to damaged abutment protection and bridge approach)
- Pias – Currimao – Balaccad Road, Ilocos Norte (passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding)
- Batac – Espiritu (Banna) Road, Ilocos Norte (passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding)
- Laoag-Sarrat-Piddig-Solsona Road, Ilocos Norte (passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding)
- Pinili – Nueva Era Road, Ilocos Norte (passable to heavy vehicles only due to flooding)
Region 4A – Calabarzon
- Nasugbu-Lian-Calatagan Road, Lian, Batangas (one lane passable to light vehicles only due to scoured shoulder and roadcut)
DPWH secretary Manuel M. Bonoan also told regional offices to speed clearing operations for the following roads, the post added.
