LAGOS – Three people who watched from a TV viewing center the semi-final match between Chelsea and Barcelona were injured Tuesday in a stampede that followed a blast near the venue in central Nigeria, an army spokesman said.
The explosion went off as scores of viewers were filing out of the center in Tundun Wada town at the end of the epic Champions league second leg match, military Joint Task Force spokesman Captain Mdahyelya Markus said.
No death was recorded in the blast, whose exact nature is yet to be determined, he said.
He said the area has been cordoned off but he gave no further details.
Tundun Wada is a major town in central Plateau state, whose capital Jos has witnessed several deadly bomb blasts in the past months.
