Class openings in 4 Embo schools going smoothly so far – DepEd

MANILA, Philippines — The opening of schools for the academic year 2023-2024 in the Embo barangays in Taguig was described as “normal” so far, a Department of Education (DepEd) official said.
According to DepEd deputy spokesperson Francis Bringas, there were “no untoward incidents” recorded so far in four schools he visited during the opening of classes this Tuesday.
“They’re all normal, wala namang untoward incidents na nakita,” Bringas said in a radio interview in Radyo 630.
(No untoward incidents were seen.)
Three of the four public schools Bringas mentioned were Cembo and Fort Bonifacio elementary schools, and the Fort Bonifacio high school, all in Taguig.
Recently, the Embo schools were the subject of disputes between the local government units of Makati and Taguig City.
Bringas also reported that some schools in the areas of northern Luzon have suspended classes or have shifted to modular distance learning on Tuesday due to Typhoon Goring. The schools damaged by the typhoon will also be prioritized in the DepEd’s response and facility funds.
“Ang mga nasirang eskwelahan ‘yan ang mga priority natin doon sa ating quick response fund ang ating BEFF (Basic Education Facilities Fund) for 2023 and 2024,” Bringas added.
