BAGUIO CITY —  A fire gutted a residential area along Honeymoon Road in this city early Sunday, Aug. 27, leaving at least 15 people homeless.

The source of the fire was an unattended candle, Barangay Captain Romulo Wayway confirmed to Mayor Benjamin Magalong in a report.

Wayway also said the candle, originally lit to remember a deceased family member, may have set a tablecloth ablaze while the family was sleeping.

A driver of a passing car noticed the fire and blew his car horn to alert them.

Authorities said those displaced were given food, hygiene, and sleeping kits.

The victims were also expected to receive financial and shelter assistance. INQ
