Micaela “Mikki” Veracruz Tan, INQUIRER.net Product Manager, dies at 45

Micaela Veracruz Tan, known dearly to many as “Mikki,” has joined our Creator last Friday, August 25, 2023, at 7:00 A.M. She was 45.

Mikki, or Miks to some, is fondly remembered for her warmth, elegance, class, and top-tier humor. Mikki loved life: She had an appetite for good food and good entertainment, she enjoyed the company of friends and family, and she loved to dance and sing like no one’s watching (she had a good voice). Younger teammates looked up to her as a firm but loving ‘ate’ who always looked out after her younger siblings, friends considered her the sister they never had, and the entire Veracruz Clan treated her like everyone’s bunso. Her partner thought the world of her.

Mikki was a generous person with a soft spot for kids and cancer fighters. She regularly donated to charitable institutions, and was known to sponsor cancer patients. She is loved immensely by her family, friends, colleagues, and partner.

She is survived by her mother, Hediliza Veracruz Tan, father Misael Tan, and sister Madge Bettina Tan-Arafol.

Mikki joined INQUIRER.net in 2013 as an Account Executive, and rose up through the ranks until she became Product Manager for PH and US/ROW in 2017.

Mikki was instrumental in the creation and development of BrandRoom, the award-winning in-house creative advertising unit of INQUIRER.net, and POP!, the pop culture channel of INQUIRER.net.

In her years with INQUIRER.net, she handled high profile clients and campaigns, and established efficient business practices, operational and workflow processes that are still in use today by the Sales and Marketing team. She contributed highly to the INQUIRER.net business by generating revenue from US/ROW (Rest of the World) clients, being on top of day-to-day Marketing and BrandRoom operations, and strategizing with the Associate Director on the development of new advertising products to offer to clients.

A private cremation service was held at Heritage Memorial Park. Prayers for Mikki and her family are requested at this difficult time.
