FIREMAN NABBED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE

A FIREMAN was accused of sexually harassing a female neighbor in barangay Poblacion, Pinamungahan town, southern Cebu.

FO1 Vicente Gorres Jr., 39, assigned at the town’s fire station, was arrested after the incident. The fireman said he didn’t know what he did, said police.

The woman told police that she was sleeping in her room when Gorres allegedly barged in past 3 a.m. yesterday and started kissing her.

The woman was alone in the house since her live-in partner went fishing.

The woman said Gorres told her he would give her P500 as long as she would not shout.

The woman said she slapped Gorres and ran outside the house.  The woman sought help from the police.

Responding policemen spotted Gorres running toward his home around 4 a.m. and arrested him.

In a separate incident, a 28-year-old culinary student was arrested for allegedly raping two minors in a Cebu City motel.

Jake Noe Ferrer Muaña, a resident of Liloan town, northern Cebu, refused to comment on his arrest.

Two minors sought help from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7) after the man allegedly raped them last Friday night.
The complainants said the man invited them for drinking session and brought them to a motel when they got drunk.

INTERNET SHOP RANSACKED

COMPUTER set worth at least P250,000 were stolen from an Internet cafe in barangay Looc, Mandaue City.

The Internet shop on A.C. Cortes Street owned by Tetchi Aranez, 34, was burglarized last Sunday but the theft was only discovered on Monday morning.

Aranez told police that 15 units of central processing unit and 19 LCD monitors were stolen.

Insp. Stephen Amamag-id, chief of the Opao police precinct, said the shop was vulnerable to burglary since the wall at back of the shop was only made of a plywood.

Police said the thieves gained entry by destroying the wall.

Police said an operation to arrest a man believed to be one of the thieves is ongoing.

FISHERMAN DROWNS OFF ARGAO

A 68-YEAR-OLD fisherman who reportedly didn’t know how to swim drowned in the waters of barangay Casay, Argao town, southern Cebu.

Police identified the fatality as Victorio Sumbilon.

Police said Victorio went fishing with his 14-year-old grandson Anecito past 5 p.m. last Monday.

The grandson told police that he became worried when he could no longer find his grandfather after they cast fishnet in a knee-deep portion of the sea.

The fisherman’s body was later found floating. He was brought to the Isidro Kintanar Memorial Hospital but attending doctors declared him dead.

Police said there were no signs of foul play in the fisherman’s death. /REPORTER RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL

HABAL DRIVER KILLED

A 34-YEAR-OLD habal-habal driver was shot dead by an unidentified gunman in barangay Perrelos, Carcar City, southern Cebu.

Jovanio Espinosa was driving home when he was attacked around 9 p.m. last Monday.

Police said the motive of the killing is still under investigation.
