THE FAR EASTERN University Tamaraws are gearing up to finally end their title-drought in the upcoming season of the UAAP and part of their preparations include a tryout to be held today at the Capitol Parish gym.
According to head coach Bert Flores, a native of Liloan, the tryouts are being done to find themselves a point guard that will back up star guards RR Garcia and Terrence Romeo in the UAAP. The tryouts saterted yesterday at the USC gym.
Flores last steered the Tamaraws to the promised land in 2005 with that squad being led by now-PBA great Arwind Santos. He sees this squad as promising although he admits that they are far from being a finished product.
“Magulo pa kasi wala pa talagang chemistry. Kailangan pa jud magkaila-ila ang mga veterans sa mga bag-o na players,” said Flores.
FEU has five new players set to see action in the UAAP. These are forwards Gino Juamo-as, former La Salle recruit Arvie Bringas, 6-foot-5 South Cotabato-native Mark Belo, Fil-Am Anthony Hargrove and guard Alejandro Inigo.
The current FEU squad also boasts of former University of Cebu ace Roger Ray Pogoy, whom Flores praised for his quick development and toughness.
“Nindot na kaayo ang duwa ni (Roger) Pogoy. I am projecting him to be a starter for this season,” added Flores. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
