Marcos: PFP open to new members who want to help admin’s dev’t agenda

ZAMBALES, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday said the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) is welcoming new members as long as they are willing to help his administration in its development agenda and address pressing concerns like inflation and the price of rice.

Marcos made the statement as PFP welcomed 14 provincial governors as well as his son, Ilocos Norte Rep. Ferdinand Alexander Marcos III, into the party.

“As long as they’re willing to help the government, as long as they’re willing to help us in pursuing and promoting the policies that we have created for our people. Then, of course, they are welcome to join,” Marcos said in a chance interview in Naval Station Leovigildo Gantioqui here in San Antonio town, where he witnessed a joint military exercise between Australia and the Philippines.

“And, most importantly, that they are behind the efforts of this government in terms of trying to improve the economy and trying to hold down inflation.

“Right now, rice is our most critical problem. And that’s something that we are attending to with all of the partners that we have both in government and in the private sector,” Marcos continued.

Noting that “politics is a game of addition,” the Chief Executive said even those politicians with different colors are welcome to join as long as they’re willing to help his administration.

“Kagaya ng sinasabi ko noong eleksyon — noong kampanya, kahit naman sino, kahit anong kulay ng kanilang politika, kung handa silang tumulong, eh bakit hindi natin sila isasama?” Marcos added.

(Like what I said during the election, during the campaign, everyone, even with different political colors, as long as they’re willing to help, why could we not include them?)
