MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) off Cagayan will bring overcast skies and rain showers to Cagayan Valley and the Cordillera Administrative Region on Thursday, the state weather bureau said on Wednesday.
As of 3:00 pm, the LPA was spotted 445 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan, according to Chenel Dominguez, weather specialist of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“We are not discounting the possibility that this LPA could become a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours,” Dominguez said in a public weather forecast issued at 4:00 pm.
The southwest monsoon or “habagat” will likewise trigger rainfall in the Bicol region; Mimaropa (Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan); the entire Visayas; Zamboanga Peninsula and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Pagasa said.
Fair weather is expected in Metro Manila and the rest of the country, although partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms are also possible.
No raise gale warning was raised over any of the country’s seaboards.
