Couple with P3.4 million worth of ‘shabu’ nabbed in Maguindanao del Norte

MANILA, Philippines — A couple with over P3.4 million worth of crystal meth or “shabu” was arrested by authorities in Maguindanao del Norte on August 22, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said on Wednesday.

In a report, PDEA said its operatives in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao conducted a buy-bust operation along Barangay Simuay Crossing in Sitio Abubakar, Sultan Kudarat, which resulted in the arrest of a couple identified as Samera Osmeña, 37, and her husband Saidamin Samama Laguiamuda, 25.

Confiscated from their belongings were 11 sachets or 510 grams of shabu worth P3,468,000, buy-bust money, identification cards, two mobile phones, two bags, a handgun, a magazine with 10 pieces of ammunition and a minivan.

PDEA said the arrested suspects are now in its BARMM jail facility. They will undergo inquest proceedings for violating the Republic Act (RA) 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10591, or Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition.
