LTFRB to transport groups: Submit formal petition on P2.00 jeepney fare hike
MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Tuesday told concerned transport groups to formally file a petition for the proposed P2 jeepney fare hike, instead of just a letter of request.
In a statement on Tuesday, the LTFRB said it already conducted a hearing on the proposal, and that LTFRB chairman Atty. Teofilo Guadiz III assured the transport groups that the agency remains open to requests for a fare hike amid the rising price of petroleum products.
“Bukas ang tanggapan ng ahensya sa mga hiling ng transport group sa gitna ng mataas na presyo ng mga produktong petrolyo. Gayunman, kinakailangan din muna balansehin ang epekto nito para sa mga komyuter,” Guadiz said.

(The LTFRB will also receive comments and suggestions from commuters once the formal petition is filed by the transport groups.)
The Liga ng Transportasyon at Operators sa Pilipinas, Pagkakaisa ng mga Tsuper at Operators Nationwide, Stop and Go Transport Coalition, and Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines earlier submitted a letter of request to the LTFRB to formally ask for a fare increase.
