MANILA, Philippines — Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is set to implement “intermittent stops” along several thoroughfares in Metro Manila to give way to Fiba (International Basketball Federation) World Cup.
According to MMDA’s traffic advisory, intermittent stops mean motorists will be stopped and pointed to other routes to make way for the convoy of Fiba delegates and players.
The system of express lanes will be in effect in the following areas:
Edsa
Kalayaan Avenue
Diokno Boulevard
Roxas Boulevard
Andrews Avenue
Sales Road
Apart from these roads, new traffic schemes will also be enforced in other routes to be determined by Fiba.
More than 1,300 MMDA personnel will be deployed in the affected areas to manage and guide motorists.
FIBA Basketball World Cup will be held at Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan from August 25 to 30.
On the other hand, FIBA Basketball World Cup finals will take place at Mall of Asia Arena from September 5 to 10.
