Pagasa: Rain expected in Batanes; ‘habagat’, generally air weather to prevail elsewhere
MANILA, Philippines — The trough or extension of a low-pressure area outside the Philippine area of responsibility will trigger scattered rain showers in Batanes, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported on Thursday.
Generally fair weather is forecast in Metro Manila and the rest of the country with possible localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
“Merong LPA sa labas ng ating Philippine area of responsibility. Dulot ng trough nito, makakaranas ang Batanes ng maulap na panahon na may kasamang kalat-kalat na pag-ulan,” said Pagasa weather specialist Chenel Dominguez.
(There is an LPA outside PAR. Due to its trough, Batanes may experience cloudy skies and scattered rain showers.)
Dominguez added that the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” remains the dominant weather system affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Hence, Mindanao, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Palawan, and Southern Leyte may expect overcast skies and intermittent rains in the coming days.
