MANILA, Philippines — Fair weather will prevail in Metro Manila and some parts of Luzon on Wednesday, while the rest of the country will experience overcast skies and scattered rain showers due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” the state weather bureau said.

In its Tuesday afternoon update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the enhanced “habagat” would affect Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

“Dahil dito asahan natin na magiging maulap ang panahon sa Mimaropa (Mindoro Oriental & Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan) Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga at pati na rin sa buong Visayas,” Pagasa weather forecaster Chenel Dominguez said.

(Due to the “habagat”, we expect cloudy skies in Mimaropa, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Visayas.)

“Para sa Metro Manila at nalalabing bahagi ng ating bansa ay asahan natin ang maaliwalas na panahon pero may nga tsansa pa rin ng localized thunderstorms sa hapon at gabi,” she added.

(For Metro Manila and the rest of the country, fair weather will prevail with chances of localized thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.)

Dominguez likewise noted that Pagasa had not monitored any low-pressure area of weather disturbance inside and outside the country’s area of responsibility.
