Doctor hurt in police chase

A DOCTOR was critically wounded after he was hit by a motorcycle whose riders were chased by police in barangay Linao, Minglanilla town, southern Cebu.

Dr. Enrique Dalaguete was standing at the side of the road when he was hit by a motorcycle used by three suspected robbers.

Police said the three  men on board the motorcycle tried to run away from policemen after they allegedly robbed a man in barangay Lawaan 2 at 2:50 a.m. yesterday.

Policemen roving chanced upon Benjie dela Cerna, 19, Joseph Zamora and Butchoy Yuson robbing Joel Cañete Villaester, 41, of barangay Linao, Talisay City.

Police said the robbers were caught in the act pointing a gun at Villaester and took the victim’s P7,600 and two cell phones worth P24,000.

Police said the robbers noticed the arriving policemen and drove off on a motorcycle.

A chase ensued.

During the chase, the motorcycle crashed after hitting Dalaguete.

Police cornered Dela Cerna while his two companions fled.

Dalaguete was taken to the Minglanilla District Hospital then moved to the South General Hospital.

Dela Cerna was detained at the Minglanilla police station while waiting for charges to be filed against him.
