Senate names road after ex-Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago
The Senate on Monday unanimously passed on third and final reading a bill that seeks to rename Agham Road in Quezon City to Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago Avenue.
House Bill No. 7413 renames the 1.8-kilometer stretch of the road after Miriam Defensor-Santiago who had served three terms as senator, Department of Agrarian Reform Secretary, Bureau of Immigration commissioner and former trial court judge.
Sen. Ramon Bong Revilla Jr., who authored the bill, said the passage of the measure reflected the “unanimous admiration of the chamber” for the significant contributions of the feisty senator to society.
“She has truly left a legacy that, to this day, serves as our guiding light in our quest toward providing our countrymen with the kind of service she has espoused her whole life: public service punctuated by integrity and honor, standing courageously by the line of fire without fear nor bias and always advocating for the welfare of the people above all else,” he said.
