CEBUANOS advanced to the finals of their respective categories in the 5th leg of the Smart Head Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit 2012 at the Cebu International Tennis Centre Inc. in Laray, Consolacion.
Fritz Satera and Hannah Grace Espinosa led the Cebuanos as they each beat their assignments to enter the final round in the 18-under category.
Satera arranged a titular battle against Zamboanga’s Abdul Qoahar Ali-an after defeating Rodolfo Barquin, 6-1, 6-2, in the semifinals.
Ali-an grabbed his finals ticket after surviving Edward Alumina, 7-5, 7-5.
Espinosa had a walk in the park when her semifinals opponent Khaye Uytico failed to show up. She faces Davao’s Andrea Regino for the title today.
Regino advanced after eliminating Edel Donaire, 6-0, 6-4.
Other Cebuanos in the finals are Clyde Dujali, Zethley Mae Alferez, Francis Lambayan and Nonito Pepito.
Dujali will contend the boys 14 title against Bacolod’s Fernando Argueles. Dujali posted a 1-6, 7-6, 10-6 victory over Carl Balondo.
Alferez completed an easy 6-2, 6-2 win over Elysse Castro.
Lambayan squeaked past Mark Suson, 4-6, 6-1, 10-12. Pepito thrashed Gabriel Trazo, 6-4, 6-1. /correspondent mars alison
