PH logs 924 COVID-19 infections from August 7-13

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 924 COVID-19 infections were recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) from August 7 to 13, slightly lower than the previous week’s 977 cases.

Based on the DOH’s latest data, the weekly total translated to a daily average of 132 new cases, which is five percent lower than the 140 recorded daily average from July 31 to August 6.

There were eleven infections — or 1.20 percent of the total cases — that were tagged critical or severe, with active critical or severe COVID-19 admissions currently at 238.

On the other hand, 24 deaths were recorded by the DOH, 14 of which occurred in the past two weeks.

Meanwhile, utilization of ICU beds dipped from 12.1 to 10.5 percent, as well as non-ICU bed utilization rate from 15.9 to 14.4 percent.

Based on the DOH’s online COVID-19 tracker as of August 14, the country’s total COVID-19 caseload is currently at 4,108,469 (3,189 active cases), with 4,038,634 recoveries and 66,646 deaths.
