MANILA, Philippines — Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte met with the ambassadors of Nigeria and Qatar and discussed possible collaborations in the field of education and other matters.
The Office of the Vice President said the meeting was held in Mandaluyong City on Friday.
“Nigerian Ambassador Folakemi Ibidunni Akinleye made a courtesy call on the Vice President. They discussed possible collaborations in the field of education,” said the OVP in a statement on Saturday.
The office, however, did not detail what specific education endeavors were tackled.
The OVP, however, said Ambassador Akinleye thanked Duterte for the message she sent during their 1st Nigeria-Philippines Business Forum and 1st Nigeria-Philippines Women in Leadership Summit last year.
Meanwhile, a separate courtesy call was made by Qatar Ambassador to the Philippines Ahmed Saad Al Homidi on Friday.
The OVP said Duterte thanked the Qatari government, through its envoy to the Philippines, for its collaboration with the OVP and the Department of Education where the Qatar Embassy distributed school supplies and Fifa World Cup souvenirs to selected Filipino students.
