‘Habagat’ dumps rains over N. Luzon, VisMin

Southwest monsoon or ‘habagat’ will continue to bring rain and cloudy skies over parts of northern Luzon, parts of Visayas and Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Friday. In its 5 p.m. bulletin, Pagasa said rain was also expected over Batanes, Northern Portion of Palawan, Southern Portion of Bicol region, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, Visayas and Mindanao. The rest of the country and Metro Manila will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. At 11 a.m., Pagasa reported that a low pressure area (LPA), which formed 235 kilometers east of Borongan City in Eastern Samar was dissolved by afternoon. No tropical depression or LPA was being monitored by the weather bureau as of Friday afternoon. —Abby Boiser
