A CITY Hall employee is under fire for mistakenly issuing a citation ticket to a Talamban barangay councilor for uncollected trash.
The barangay council of Talamban, Cebu City in a resolution condemned the “disrespectful” act of Grace Luardo of the Department of Public Services (DPS).
She issued a citation ticket to barangay councilor Dario Arcilla, who was actually helping remove uncollected garbage in a Cabancalan street.
The resolution also criticized Luardo for posting pictures of piles of garbage on Facebook and identifying Talamban in the caption.
DPS head Dionesio Gualiza apologized for the mistake.
He said Luardo and the barangay officials already talked recently and settled the issue.
Despite the apology, Talamban barangay captain Jesus Remedio wrote Mayor Michael Rama asking him to investigate the incident.
Councilor Edgardo Labella, who heads the committee on laws, recommended that the issue be included in next week’s City Council session
The barangay council said in the resolution that the Talamban Barangay Clean and Green personnel were requested to pick up the garbage at Cabancalan since the DPS failed to collect the garbage for two days.
Arcilla accompanied the group to collect the garbage.
“Such conduct even humiliates the Cebu City government because instead of thanking the barangay officials in their earnest cooperation and support to its program, a citation ticket was issued by this employee who seemed too ignorant of her function,” said the resolution reads.
