Body fished out of bay

The spectacular view at Manila Bay on Sunday night was ruined when fishermen spotted a body in the water. They immediately informed security guards who fished the corpse out at the seawall near the south gate of Harbor View Restaurant in Rizal Park. The body was that of a man described to be between 30 and 35 years old, 5’6” tall and of muscular build. He was dressed in a white shirt worn over a pair of brown pants. SPO1 Mario Asilo of the Manila Police District homicide section said that the body did not bear signs of external injuries. Another Manila ‘estero’ to be rehabilitated

ANOTHER Pasig River tributary in Manila will be “revived” following the successful rehabilitation of the heavily polluted Estero de Paco. The cleanup of Estero de San Miguel was launched yesterday with Tanduay Distillers Inc. signing a contract and handing a check for P2.5 million to ABS-CBN Foundation’s “Kapit-Bisig Para sa Ilog Pasig” which seeks to clean up the polluted Pasig River. The money will be used to buy two units of a water treatment system from Scotland-based Biomatrix Water which will increase the amount of oxygen in the water and “reactivate the waterway’s natural cleansing abilities.” Jaymee T. PCSO to move operations

FROM April 27 to May 4, operations of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City will be transferred temporarily to its satellite office at Lung Center of the Philippines in Quezon City. The transfer is to give way to the high-level meeting of world leaders for the Asian Development Bank from May 2 to 5, said PCSO general manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II.
