MANILA, Philippines — On top of homicide charges, administrative cases have been filed against six police personnel who shot and killed a teenager in Navotas, according to Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo on Friday.
“Doon sa admin case naman po, na kasama din po ang kanilang team leader na dalawang opisyal, ay sinampahan po sila ng grave neglect of duty,” Fajardo said in the Laging Handa public briefing.
(In the admin case, which includes their team leaders who are two officials, they were charged with grave neglect of duty.)
These cases are grave irregularity in the performance of duty.
Before these cases were filed, criminal complaints of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide were already been filed against the cops.
On August 2, police shot and killed 17-year-old Jerhode Jemboy Baltazar.
This incident happened amid PNP’s effort to clean its ranks from undesirable cops.
