MANILA, Philippines — Cagayan and Isabela would experience a pause from rain showers as sunny weather is predicted to prevail in the two provinces on Friday, August 11, the state weather bureau said.
The two provinces were pelted recently by rains for days caused by two typhoons.
Based on the early morning forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), the southwest monsoon will bring isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in Metro Manila and parts of Luzon while the Ilocos Region and the western Cordillera Region will have isolated thunderstorms.
“Asahan natin ang maulap at nagiging maulap na as early as morning, dahil may chance na ng isolated rain showers or thunderstorms na epekto rin ng southwest monsoon,” state weather specialist Benison Estareja explained.
(Let’s expect cloudy skies, and it’s becoming cloudy as early as morning because of a chance of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon.)
Pagasa also said that the low-pressure area (LPA) 310 kilometers east of Borongan, Samar, is expected to dissipate either Friday or Saturday, seeing it is not likely to develop into a tropical cyclone.
“Mababa ang chance na mabuo ito bilang isang bagyo sa susunod na mga araw, at inaasahan natin na posible na rin nitong malusaw either mamaya or bukas,” Estareja noted.
(It has a low chance of forming into a storm in the next few days, and we expect it to dissipate either later or tomorrow.)
The LPA and southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, are anticipated cause rains throughout Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, Pagasa added.
As for Typhoon Lan, the state weather bureau said it is still outside the Philippine area of responsibility and may not affect the country.
