MANILA, Philippines – Philippine National Police (PNP) will proceed with its investigation of the gun fight between two policemen in Taguig city once the survivor has been discharged from the hospital.
Police made the statement on Wednesday, referring to the duel between Police Chief Master Sergeant Alraquib Aguel and Master Sergeant Heriberto Saguiped.
The two had initially argued.
The incident resulted in the death of Saguiped.
Meanwhile, Aguel is in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital due to his injuries.
Aguel is considered a main suspect in the shootout.
“[The] course of action concerning the implicated suspect, PCMS Al-Rakib P Aguell, who sustained injuries as a fellow officer intervened to stop the threat, will be established subsequent to his medical discharge,” PNP said.
“This will be done with a commitment to uphold due process and ensure accountability,” it stressed.
PNP also said it is providing support to Corporal Alison Sindac, who was wounded after attempting to relieve the tension between the two cops.
Sindac is also in the ICU.
“[Our] primary focus at this juncture rests squarely on providing immediate support to the aggrieved family and the proper care of PCol Alison Sindac, who remains in recovery,” the police added.
