MANILA, Philippines – Only public elementary school children in the country’s poorest areas will be the beneficiaries in launching the “Batang Busog, Malusog” (BBM) feeding program.
Presidential Adviser on Poverty Alleviation Lorenzo “Larry” Gadon said this in a forum on Tuesday.
The “BBM” acronym of the program is the same as the initials of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. – BBM.
“‘Yong tinatawag ko na BBM nutritional program ay isang feeding program only to very depressed areas na mga public elementary schools,” he said.
(BBM nutritional program is a feeding program only for public elementary schools in depressed areas.)
“Ang target namin dito ay ang mga grade school na mabigyan ng nutrisyon,” he added.
(Our target is for grade school students to be given nutrition.]
The scheme is separate from the Department of Health and the Department of Education feeding programs.
“Hindi ito pang malawakan. Ito ay naka-target lamang sa mga schools na talagang nakikita natin na mga kinakailangan ng tulong,” Gadon pointed out.
(It will not be widely implemented. It will only be targeted toward schools that we really deem to be needing help the most.)
In June, Gadon was unanimously disbarred by Supreme Court for his “misogynistic, sexist, abusive and repeated intemperate language” against journalist Raissa Robles.
