MANILA, Philippines — About 200 members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) have passed the physical and medical examinations as part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) police force recruitment process.

Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said on Monday that about 200 recruits passed the initial test, including neuro and agility examinations.

Fajardo, however, clarified that these applicants still need to undergo a background investigation to check if they have any history of derogatory records.

She likewise revealed that those on the “clean list” were among the 1,000 endorsed by the Bangsamoro government and those who passed PNP’s special qualification examination for them.

On the other hand, the remaining 800 applicants are still in the process of the initial test.

Fajardo said PNP’s quota recruitment stands at 400, adding that the force plans to get 280 qualified applicants from the MILF and 120 from the MNLF.

After passing the screening, qualified applicants will undergo a mandatory police recruitment course for six months and a field training program.

They will also be familiarized with intelligence aspects of police operations before deploying in police stations within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region’s jurisdiction.
