Sen. Grace Poe sends aid to flood-stricken Calumpit, Bulacan

MANILA, Philippines –  Senator Grace Poe has sent food packs and hot meals for 500 beneficiaries displaced by the massive floods in Calumpit, Bulacan.

Through the non-government organization FPJ Panday Bayanihan Foundation, Poe sent out 500 food packs containing rice, instant noodles, ready-to-eat canned goods, instant coffee for residents of Barangay Palimbang on August 5, Saturday.

The senator’s son and chief-of-staff, Brian Poe-Llamanzares, led the distribution at the Calumpit Municipal Covered Court.

“Ilang ulit mang dumaan ang mga pagsubok tulad nito, asahan nyo na lagi nyong kaagapay si Sen. Grace Poe at ang FPJ Panday Bayanihan para kayo’y tulungan,” Poe-Llamanzares, FPJ Panday Bayanihan chairperson, said.

Calumpit Mayor Glorime “Lem” Faustino and other officials also assisted in the relief operation.

“Nakakataba ng puso ang patuloy na pagbuhos ng tulong at suporta sa atin mula sa ating mga national leader tulad nina Senator Poe at Brian Poe-Llamanzares,” said Faustino.

Aside from the food packs, the FPJ Panday Bayanihan Foundation also provided hot meals for 700 individuals as well as 500 packets of Vitamin C to help boost their immunity against flu and infections during the rainy season.

Bulacan was placed under a state of calamity due to the flooding brought about by southwest moonsoon “habagat”, enhanced by Typhoon Egay.

To date, parts of several towns of Bulacan remain flooded.

FPJ Panday Bayanihan Foundation, inspired by late Fernando Poe Jr.’s movie series “Ang Panday”, was established in 2013 after Typhoon Maring hit the country and affected 2.5 million people.

The non-profit organization aims to harness the spirit of civic unity and community service among Filipinos, by extending assistance to indigents and those affected by natural and man-made disasters.
