Pagasa: Sunny Sunday in most parts of PH; ‘habagat’ to prevail in N. Luzon
MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or “habagat” will continue to bring cloudy skies and rain showers to parts of Northern Luzon, while the rest of the country will experience fair weather, the state weather bureau said on Sunday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), in its early morning update, said the enhanced “habagat” would specifically affect the western portion of Northern Luzon.
“Patuloy tayo makakaranas ng maulap na kalangitan na may mga kalat kalat na pagulan, pagkulog at pagkidlat dito sa Ilocos Region, Batanes, at Babuyan Islands,” Pagasa weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said.
(We will continue to experience cloudy skies with scattered showers, thunder, and lightning in the Ilocos region, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands.)
The state weather bureau raised a gale warning over the seaboards of Batanes, the northern coast of Ilocos Norte, the northern coast of Cagayan, including Babuyan Island.
Fair elsewhere
“Sa nalalabing bahagi ng bansa kasama na dyan ang Metro Manila ay mas maaliwalas ang panahon ang ating inaasahan, may tsansa pa rin tayo ng mga pulo pulong pagulan na may pagkulog at pagkidlat dulot ng localized thunderstorms,” he added.
(The rest of the country, including Metro Manila will have fair weather with possible rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.)
No storm threat
Villamil likewise noted that Pagasa is not monitoring any weather disturbance or low-pressure area inside and outside the Philippine area of responsibility that would affect the country in the coming days.
