MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said 27 road sections in Luzon were either damaged or closed as Typhoon Egay (international name: Doksuri) and the enhanced southwest monsoon knocked off trees and caused flooding and landslides.
In a social media post on Saturday, the DPWH said 11 road sections are closed to traffic due to soil collapse, fallen trees, and flooding in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Central Luzon, and Ilocos.
Specifically, six road sections are impassable in CAR, three in Central Luzon, and two in Ilocos, according to the DPWH.

Also in these regions are 16 roads that have limited public access due to soil collapse, rock slides, and road slips.
The DPWH said 10 of these roads are in Ilocos, four in Central Luzon, and two in CAR.

“All national roads and bridges in other affected regions are passable to all types of vehicles as of captioned date and time (August 5, 2023, 10 a.m.),” DPWH’s social media post states.
In a situation report released August 4, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Egay and the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, damaged 506 infrastructures costing around P3.6 billion.
