habagat rain luzon

MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon, locally known as the “habagat,” will continue to bring rain over the western portions of Luzon and extreme northern Luzon on Saturday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Mostly western sections pa rin ng Luzon ang makakaranas ng pagulan dulot ng habagat, as well as extreme northern Luzon,” said Pagasa weather forecaster Rhea Torres.

(Mostly western sections of Luzon will still experience rain due to the monsoon, as well as extreme northern Luzon.)

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather will prevail over the rest of Luzon and also in the entire Visayas and Mindanao.

Rain, however, should still be expected in these areas, especially in the afternoon and evening due to isolated thunderstorms.

Gale warning is raised over parts of the country’s northern coasts, particularly: Batanes, the northern coast of Ilocos Norte, and the northern coast of Cagayan including Babuyan Islands.

Wave heights in these areas are expected to range from three to five meters.
