MANDAUE police will invite the aunt of Provincial Board (PB) member Ian Zambo for questioning in the wake of the accidental shooting death of her husband last week.

Ernesto Zambo, a 66-year-old resident of Barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City died of a gunshot wound in his stomach after his wife accidentally shot him with an air gun while they hunted for birds inside their compound last Saturday.

Police said Zambo’s aunt was loading pellets into the air gun when it suddenly went off, hitting her husband in the stomach five meters away. He was rushed by the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (ERUF) to the Chung Hua Hospital where he died afterwards.

Insp. Ramil Morpos, deputy chief of the Mandaue City police’s Investigation and Detection Management Branch (IDMB), said he told PB member Zambo to present a license for the air gun but the family insisted the shooting was accidental. He said the air gun is in their custody. Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
