Tutor edges Carter in Quota Trail Challenge

CRISTY  Tutor edged rival Madelyn Carter anew after she topped the Quota Trail Challenge yesterday  at the Pristina North Commercial Area in Canduman, Mandaue City.

Tutor won over Carter last weekend in the 4th Run For Bebe 15-kilometer race at the North Reclamation area in Mandaue City. She followed it up with another win yesterday, only in a more challenging trail.

Tutor topped the 16-kilometer trail run with a time of one hour, 30 minutes and 58 seconds.

Carter was just close behind her, finishing second in one hour, 30 minutes and 59 seconds.

Tutor also topped the JCI Run held at the Plaza Independencia last March.

Rounding off the top three in the women’s 16k trail run is Odysa Abellana, who finished inone hour, 51 minutes and 45 seconds.

Meanwhile, Bonifacio Monjas topped the 16k men’s category with a time of one hour, one minute and 37 seconds.

Robert Daang finished second (01:03:41) followed by Alvirg Busa at third (01:06:32).

Other winners were Jieter Bada (men’s 5k) and Mary Joy Loberanes (women’s 5k).

The race was spearheaded by triathlon couple Noy and Amale Jopson and members of the women’s organization of Quota International Cebu South.

The race aimed to raise funds to support 25 hearing-impaired or deaf scholars from the Lipata Minglanilla High School SPED Center.

The generated funds will also be used to build a bakery and training center for the scholars.  /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
