MANILA, Philippines — Some local governments suspended classes in public and private schools on Tuesday (August 1, 2023) amid the effects of the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”
Government work has also been postponed in some areas.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reports, typhoon-strengthened habagat rains are currently affecting parts of Luzon and Western Visayas.
The state weather bureau cautioned typhoon Falcon may escalate into a super typhoon after it exits the Philippine area of responsibility.
Below is the list of cities, municipalities, and provinces across the country that have called off classes and government work:
Region 1 (Ilocos Region)
Pangasinan
Dagupan City – all levels (public and private)
Calasiao – all levels (public and private)
Central Luzon
Pampanga
San Simon – all levels (public and private) including government work
Candaba – all levels (public and private) including government work
Masantol – only government work
Bulacan
Santa Maria – all levels (public and private) including government work
Malolos – only government work
