Senate inquiry on schools’ preparedness for SY 2023-24 pushed
MANILA, Philippines — Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, chairman of the Senate committee on basic education, has filed a resolution seeking to assess the preparedness of schools in the country for the upcoming School Year 2023-2024.
In a statement on Saturday, Gatchalian said Senate Resolution No. (SRN) 689, intends to assess the effectiveness and challenges in delivering both face-to-face classes and learning through alternative delivery modes.
This also takes into consideration the return of April to May school summer breaks according to the lawmaker.
SRN 689 was filed on July 18.
“In the midst of our continuous recovery from the pandemic and return to normalcy in the education sector, it is timely to review the readiness of our schools for the continued delivery of quality education. As the challenges and damage caused by the pandemic continue, it is important that we determine how we will address them”, Gatchalian said in Filipino.
Article continues after this advertisementUnless amended, the Department of Education earlier disclosed, through its Order No. 34, that School Year 2023 – 2024 will start on August 28, 2023 and end on June 28, 2024.
