Manila Water ramps up desludging drive to protect waterways
Manila Water announces its August desludging schedule for its customers in the East Zone of Metro Manila and parts of Rizal. By availing of the company’s desludging service, customers are assured that the septage from their homes will undergo stringent processes that comply with the standards set by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources before being released into waterways.
MANILA, Philippines – Manila Water renews the call to its customers to avail of desludging services this August to help protect our waterways.
To support this call, the company continues to field its siphoning trucks and coordination with barangay officials to encourage residents to avail of this service at no additional cost.
In the City of Manila, residents of Barangays 764, 765, 767, 769, 775, 776, 778, 790, 791, 796, 798, 877, 878, 879, 880, 895, and 900 should expect Manila Water’s desludging trucks in their areas.
Makati, Mandaluyong, San Juan
Siphoning services will also be scheduled in August in Barangays Cembo, Bangkal, Guadalupe Viejo, and Kasilawan in Makati City.
Likewise, Barangays Batis and Kabayanan in San Juan City and Barangays Barangka Drive, Harapin ang Bukas, Barangka Itaas, Barangka Ibaba, Barangka Ilaya, Malamig, Pleasant Hills, San Jose, and Vergara in Mandaluyong should start to clear out obstructions to their septic tank covers as Manila Water desludging tankers will be prepositioned in the said areas.
Quezon City, Marikina, Pasig
Quezon City customers in the following barangays — Tandang Sora, UP Campus, Krus na Ligas, Sauyo, East, Kamias, E Rodriguez, Silangan, Pinagkaisahan, Salapan, Roxas, and Kaunlaran are also requested to prepare their septic tanks for desludging.
Desludging trucks will also visit Marikina Heights in Marikina City, Central Signal in Taguig City, and Barangays Dela Paz, Sta. Lucia, and Bagong Ilog in Pasig City.
Rizal province
Over in Rizal province, scheduled for desludging this August are Barangays Mambugan, Inarawan, and Beverly Hills in Antipolo City; Burgos, San Isidro, and San Jose in Montalban; Dolores in Taytay and Bilibiran in Binangonan.
Residents of these barangays are advised to coordinate with their barangay officials for the desludging schedules.
By availing of the Manila Water’s desludging service, customers are assured that the septage from their homes will undergo stringent processes that comply with the standards set by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
The septage is brought to Manila Water’s North Septage Treatment Plant in San Mateo and South Septage Treatment Plant in Taguig, where it undergoes complete treatment.
Effluent from the treatment plant should pass “Class C” standards, or safe for the propagation of fish and other aquatic resources as well as recreational water activities such as boating, fishing and other similar activities.
Manila Water is ramping up its sanitation program and beefing up its wastewater treatment facilities as part of its Three-River System Wastewater Masterplan in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The masterplan involves massive construction of wastewater facilities and sewer networks across the Marikina River, San Juan River, Pasig River, and Laguna Lake systems.
